Daily News

Good morning.

I’d like to remind you that if you would like to take part, masked reader videos will need to be submitted before Thursday – full details are in the Whole School post that Mrs Augard-Thomas put up on February 26th.

As well as the links below, there is also the opportunity to watch more of the Scholastic workshops today – I understand that the technical glitches from yesterday morning have now been ironed out.

Mr Simmons’ Joke of the Day

Maths

After forming the equations yesterday, we move onto solving them today. The video is quite a long one today. I would recommend watching up to the 19 minute mark, then trying the questions below (up to B6). Then watch the last 5 minutes of video to solve some of the later questions.

Some of the later questions are quite challenging. I would like you all to try the earlier questions. If you get confused, then don’t panic as we will be looking at this in more detail when you come back to school next week.

English

With Thursday being World Book Day, as well as the Scholastic sessions which I have been letting you know about, there are a number of other online activities available this year.

https://usborne.com/gb/world-book-day-activities-2021

This page has a series of 5 challenges based on some of Usborne’s favourite books, each supported with a video and an activity. Look through the site and choose one of the activities you would like to carry out. I would recommend the chapter challenge for Matt Brown’s ‘Mutant Zombies Cursed My School Trip’ but there may be another activity you would prefer to complete – this is fine.

If you do not finish everything today, do not panic – I have planned for this activity to carry on in Thursday’s session. Then, you can either try another challenge or complete this one.

Reading

I would like you to read for at least 30 minutes each day. You can get more ideas and suggestions of reading material from the Reading@Home section above.

Science

Today sees the final episode of the Young Imagineers series of lessons. Entitled, ‘Health: Are we taking care of ourselves?’ it will explore healthy eating, exercise and wellbeing with amazing experiments from the Science Museum!

Cubert School had a mention in the last episode and the school have won a prize following competition entries – this may well get mentioned today.

The programme airs live at 11:30 and can be watched afterwards on demand here:

Following the video, you may like to carry out some additional research or find out more about any of the topics discussed in the programme by Dallas Campbell.
