Daily News

So, here we are at the start of a new period of home learning – the speed that this has happened has taken us all a bit by surprise, so please forgive any teething problems in the first couple of days.

Every day on this page I will put approximately 4 separate activities for you to work through during the day.

You are welcome to leave any suitable comments in the box below if you wish. In addition, you will be expected to submit your work to your ClassDojo portfolio. Remember that is a place where you can ask for extra help or support if you need it.

As we get into the home learning, I will also introduce a few challenges and competitions as well as a few problems each week you can try to solve with your family. I will also try and keep you smiling with a daily joke!

Mr Simmons’ Joke of the Day

Patient: Doctor, Doctor! I think I have a problem with my ear.

Doctor: All right, which ear is it?

Patient: 2021.

Maths

Our Maths work will be following the White Rose lessons (the scheme that we use at school). Each day there will be a video and a question sheet to follow.

The accompanying questions can be downloaded here:

Watch the video, then work through the questions. If you do not have a printer, you can work through the questions, showing your answers on a piece of paper (make sure you number the questions clearly) or you may be able to screenshot the question paper and annotate on screen – this can be done with Markup on an iPad for example. Then photograph the sheet and upload to ClassDojo portfolio.

[You will be able to write the answers for Q1 & Q2. You may need to draw out your own grid for Q3 & Q4 if you do not have access to a printer, unless you can do a screen shot]

English

We were due to start a new topic on Journalistic Writing – writing newspaper articles. Although it does not use the video I was originally going to use, follow this Oak Academy lesson to find out the key features of a newspaper article:

Reading

During the week I would like you to read for at least 30 minutes each day. You can get more ideas and suggestions of reading material from the Reading@Home section above (I have not updated this since the last period of home learning so some of the links may not work – I will work on this over the next few days).

Art

Over the next few weeks we will be looking at Art Illusions.

Go through this presentation

Then try some of the challenges listed here:

We will return to this, so do not feel that you need to complete all the challenges in one go!

Stay in Touch

Please stay in touch, letting us know how you are getting on with your learning.
