Daily News
I hope you had a good weekend and are ready for another week of home learning!
I have been working on updating some of the lessons so there is a bit more variety this week – for example, today I have combined two of the White Rose lessons and recorded my own video for you. I hope this will make your learning even more meaningful.
Please remember to submit your work onto your ClassDojo Portfolio. You should be aiming to post at least 2 subjects’ worth of work each day. I look forward to seeing your work today.
Mr Simmons’ Joke of the Day
My grandfather has the heart of a lion…and a lifetime ban from the zoo.
Maths
Tying in with the work you did on decimals last week, we now look at multiplying and dividing by 10,100 and 1000.
After watching the video, try answering these questions:
(If you did want a bit more support on the x and ÷ of decimals, then the White Rose videos can be watched here and here)
English
On Friday, you started to plan your recount. In this session, it is time to write the recount – this is where the newspaper writing starts to come together.

You can either write the pasage then have it photographed, or you can type it up and submit it on the text facility within ClassDojo.
Reading
During the week I would like you to read for at least 30 minutes each day. You can get more ideas and suggestions of reading material from the Reading@Home section above.
Art
Last week you started an art challenge looking at perspective. If you had not started home learning at this point, go back and do that lesson today. Or you may like to try another exercise before moving on. If you are drawing houses at an angle, remember that the windows also need to be on the vanishing lines.
I have tried to show you this in this picture:
See how putting the windows on the extra vanishing lines gives more perspective. Also, the windows should get narrower the further they go into the distance. I think I could have shown that more clearly.
If you are ready to move on, try the next perspective challenge:
Family Challenge
Work with your family to try and solve this problem.
