Daily News
After the first day of the Times Table Rock Stars competition, the scores are as follows:
I hope you have a good day’s learning. In the Science session today, which I have recorded a video for, we begin the first of two lessons leading up to a competition in which you can win some fantastic prizes for yourself and the school.
Mr Simmons’ Joke of the Day
Maths
In today’s session we will be exploring how to divide decimals by integers, revisiting the bus stop method. Watch this video:
Then have a go at the questions:
English
I know it seems like it has been quite a long process, but we are now moving into the final stages of writing our newspaper article. Starting towards the end of next week we will be moving onto a different area – I am currently recording a series of lessons to upload. In the meantime, today we will be planning the final paragraphs of the newspaper report (the last paragraph, acting like a summary can also be called a re-orientation).
Please continue to upload your exercises from the session onto your ClassDojo portfolio.
Reading
I would like you to read for at least 30 minutes each day. You can get more ideas and suggestions of reading material from the Reading@Home section above.
Science
In today’s and tomorrow’s sessions we are going to work towards entering a national competition. I have recorded this video lesson for you to follow today:
The quiz sheet you need is here:
You don’t need to print this out – just put your answers on a piece of paper. Don’t forget to send me your ideas from today’s session on your ClassDojo portfolio.
Genius Square Challenge
Using the game you made last week (if you have not done this yet, you can find the instructions here) these are the co-ordinates for the ‘blocker pieces’ for some more games:
Game 1: E1 F1 D2 B2 A4 E6 E3
Game 2: E1 A6 D2 B2 B5 E5 F6
Game 3: F2 F1 D4 C1 A3 D6 D1
Game 4: B6 A6 D4 B1 B5 E4 D1
You can always make another board and challenge a member of your family to a head-to-head game.
