Daily News
So we are at the end of another week. Well done to everyone for your continued efforts. I wish you all a happy and safe weekend.
First, an update on the House Battle:
Look out on the ClassDojo page this morning for a link so you can watch a live performance of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet from the Royal Shakespeare Company – for free.
I thought I would finish the week with this video which Freddie sent in – as you all know, his family own a farm. They have just starting calving and have started the new year with this pair of heifer twins.
Mr Simmons’ Joke of the Day
Maths
In yesterday’s session we explored how to use the bus stop method to divide fractions. In this session, we develop this further with how to divide a whole number. We also explore recurring decimals and how to round a decimal.
There are some questions for you to attempt here:
English
Having seen how well everyone has taken on the learning of writing in journalistic style, I have changed these sessions around a bit. I had originally intended on sharing four extra lessons with you, but I think you now have most of the skills you need and I know many of you have not really found some of the sessions all that easy to follow.
So, we will finish this unit of work today with your final write of the final paragraphs.
Please share this in ClassDojo – you can type it up on the text facility there, or attach a Word document, or photograph your writing.
This means on Monday we will be starting a new English topic for which I will record some lessons for you. At the end of that unit, there will be a task to write a newspaper report, so you will be putting all this learning into practice in that work.
Reading
During the week I would like you to read for at least 30 minutes each day. You can get more ideas and suggestions of reading material from the Reading@Home section above.
Science
Yesterday we discovered the the work of scientists to improve our world. Today we develop this and come up with ideas for developing the world further. After the recorded lesson you will be asked to complete the Activity Sheet below and submit your challenge statement into the competition.
The activity sheet you need is here:
You don’t need to print this out – just put your answers on a piece of paper.
When you have a finalised challenge statement you are happy with, you can photograph this (make it look nice!) and submit this into the competition.

Please remember to send a copy of the photograph onto your ClassDojo portfolio.
I will let you know when the live lesson takes place to see if anyone from Curlews is a winner!
If you would like to, the previous Imagineers Live Lesson can be watched here:
Stay in Touch
Please stay in touch, letting us know how you are getting on with your learning.
Hi Mr Simmons I just wanted to ask how do you attach word documents to your class dojo portfolio?
Hi Martha. A great question. I have just set up a pupil account to try and solve this for you. I was unable to do it on my iPhone, but logging into a computer there was an option to submit a file to the portfolio. If you are struggling, I am happy for you to email it to curlews@teachertingle.co.uk and put a journal note on the portfolio letting me know you have done that as I don’t always check that email address. I hope this helps.
