Daily News

There has been some change on the leadership board of the Times Table Rockstar House Battle today!

A successful day for Green yesterday, moving up into 3rd place – getting much closer to 2nd place too!

Today is your last full day of competition with the closing date being tomorrow at midday!

Mr Simmons’ Joke of the Day

Maths

In the next few sessions we start to make some links with the learning from last term as we start to see the relationship between decimals and fractions.

Start by watching this video:

Now try these questions:

And submit your answers to your Dojo Portfolio.

English

Before we start, I wanted to share some great examples of writing from yesterday’s session from Maya, Niccolo, Martha and Thom. I hope you will agree with me that these are four examples of really well detailed writing.

Niccolo
Martha
Thom

Why not leave a comment below to let the authors know how much you enjoyed their writing.

Now, after writing the description of the character yesterday, watch this video and find out more about this new topic:

So, as I say in the video, there are 2 main activities I would like you work through today.

Task One

Rehearse the retelling of the start of this poem. Focus on where you may put extra emphasis with your voice. Could you add sound effects (you can involve other members of your family if you like)?

The words for the first 2 verses are here:

If you are able to upload a video of your performance to ClassDojo I would love to see it.

Task Two

You are stood between the gusty trees. Start to write some ‘sense’ notes on what you would see, hear, smell, touch or feel. There is a copy of the grid we have used before, but you can just make notes of these. Make your notes descriptive (so not just trees – really describe the trees).

Do not write this as a full passage yet. This session is just note gathering!

Please share what you have done on Dojo.

Reading

I would like you to read for at least 30 minutes each day. You can get more ideas and suggestions of reading material from the Reading@Home section above.

Science

Our new topic is all about classification and keys. I have prepared a lesson for you, which you can follow on the link below:

Family Challenge

Have a go at this challenge. Some of you are having competitions at home to see who solves it first – the child or the adult. Let me know how you are getting on!
