Daily News

I hope you had a lovely break over half term – it was a shame that the weather was not kinder to us. There will be official confirmation later today from Boris Johnson, but it looks very likely that we are now into our final 10 days of home schooling.

Thank you for your submissions to the art recreation task. I am hoping to put up a gallery of images tomorrow – if you forgot to send something in, there may just be time to put in a last minute entry.

A little something different today to ease you back into your learning. Our regular Maths and English sessions have been replaced with a challenge session, with the opportunity to enter a competition and win an iPad for yourself and potentially £1500 for the school!

Mr Simmons’ Joke of the Day

Masters of Infinity Challenge

Today we will be looking at recycling with the Masters of Infinity.

…we need to recycle. The more that gets recycled, the less that goes to feed Land Phil! When we recycle packing materials, we prevent them from being wasted and it also saves energy – it takes less energy to recycle materials than it does to make new ones.

Materials that can be recycled include:

These are all recyclable, but they are not all equal as different packing materials have different properties which make them more or less recyclable. Some packing materials are infinitely recyclable, meaning they can be transformed over and over again into something new.

You are now going to find out more about the properties of these materials. You can either read the Infinity cards in the link below or you can see these online at: http://learningaluminium.co.uk/interactive/card.html

Make sure you read all the information on these as you will need it to answer the questions in this next video!

So, as I said in the video, the challenge tasks (don’t feel you need to print these out) are here:

The answers, so you can mark your own work are here:

To win yourself an iPad and the school £1500, complete this task:

Fill out using these details on the competition entry form:

If you don’t have a printer you can use plain paper (ensuring the competition details are written at the top).

Entries must be sent to them by Friday at the latest if you want to stand a chance of winning the fantastic prize. Please share your entries with me on ClassDojo!

Reading

I would like you to read for at least 30 minutes each day. You can get more ideas and suggestions of reading material from the Reading@Home section above.

Science

In today’s video I break down how the kingdom of animals are further classified.

After watching the video, use the facts within it to display this as an information poster.
