Well done gang – we have made it to the end of another week of home learning. Many of you have submitted some some fantastic work this week – I’d say that as you are getting used to this new way of working for the time being, on the whole, the quality of what you are doing is increasing. Keep this up!
I hope you are all keeping safe and look forward to seeing what you do today. Have a great weekend, recharge those batteries and I look forward to seeing you back here on Monday!

Something a bit different today as we carry out an investigation from the I See Maths website. This was initially published in the first lockdown in March 2020.
[I know some of you are a few days behind in your maths. I may suggest, if that is the case, leave this session for now, catch up on a previous day’s work and you can come back to this at a later date.]

We come to the end of Part 1 of the Poem today with verses 5&6. Watch the video as I go through these and then try the activity below:
So, today you are going to write a diary as if you are Tim the Ostler. Remember to include your emotions. Remember that you are in love with Bess and you now know the plan of the Highwayman. What do you think you may do?
Reading
I would like you to read for at least 30 minutes each day. You can get more ideas and suggestions of reading material from the Reading@Home section above.
Art/Topic
Geevor Tin Mine is running a Facebook competition for all primary school aged children.
They are asking children aged between 5 and 11 (inclusive) to share their pictures of anything to do with Cornish Mining. This can be a painting, drawing, photograph or any other creative idea!
Their favourite entry will win free admission to Geevor for their class (when it is safe to do so) and their own special prize. This competition will run until Wednesday 27th January at Midday. The winner will be announced via Geevor’s Facebook page – best of luck!

In literacy can we make up a date for the diary?
Yes, definitely. You may like to use any of the clues within the poem to think when the events were likely to have happened.
Mr Simmons on the English do we do days or paragraphs?
For Tim’s diary I would just do that day’s diary with the events that have just happened. You may choose to put a couple of paragraphs in the diary account.
