Daily News

It’s close at the top of the Times Table Rockstar Battle. But Team Curlews needs your help! At the end of the first day’s play yesterday, there were still quite a few people who had not taken part. If you don’t play, you will be lowering the class average!

Don’t forget the deadline for the photo competition is tomorrow. If you have not submitted your entry yet, please do so – I have only received a handful so far, so there must be some more of you who have a great photo to send in.

Mr Simmons’ Joke of the Day

Maths

We conclude our work on percentages with the final skill. In this, you will be finding the whole after being told what a certain percentage is worth. Again, we will be using the bar model approach for this work.

Now try these questions and upload your answers to ClassDojo. Please remember to submit your workings as well as the final answer.

English

So, today, as you come to the end of the extended writing task there is some time to finish off the writing from the previous two sessions if you did not get all that done.

I’d also like you to come up with a headline that will really stand out. Rhymes, puns, alliteration, powerful words are all features of good headlines.

And then, I want you to really spend some time editing your writing from this week. There are some suggestions of the sorts of things that you should be looking at in this video from about the 14 minutes mark.

Reading

I would like you to read for at least 30 minutes each day. You can get more ideas and suggestions of reading material from the Reading@Home section above.

A reminder that you, as members of Curlews, can also watch some Shakespeare performances here. Available to watch at the moment are A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Romeo & Juliet, The Tempest and Macbeth.

Art

A little break from perspective art this week as we try something different. I have found this lesson from Oak Academy which, although it is a Key Stage 3 lesson, I think you would be able to use this effect in your own artwork.

I hope you enjoy this lesson. Please share your work with me on your ClassDojo Portfolio.
