Sea Kings Final Flypast

20th September 2018 3 By Mr Simmons

Two Sea King military helicopters flew over Cubert School yesterday as one of the final stages of their farewell flypast, after nearly 50 years of service.

All the pupils went out onto the field to witness this historic final flight.

The Sea Kings – known as “Baggers” in the Royal Navy – acted as “eyes in the sky” during operations.  Their nickname comes from the inflatable black bag on the side which holds the radar system.  The two planes were accompanied by a Merlin helicopter.
