Family Similarities

Have you ever been told that you look like your father or that you are the spitting image of your grandmother?  This is not an accident.  Curlews have been finding out that the cells within our bodies have carefully constructed bits of code that tell each cell what to do.  This code is kept in our genes – this controls how we grow, how our bodies work and what we look like.  This genetic code is passed from one generation to the next.

As well as looking at family pictures of themselves (and me) the pupils looked at some pictures of famous parents and their children and identified the features which made them look similar.  Producing the work on the computer, here are two good examples from Iona, Noly and Cassie.
