Meeting the Animals

14th October 2018 1 By Mr Simmons

Curlews received a visit from Mark and Tom from Mark’s Ark on Thursday afternoon.  Along with a bird eating spider, Mark added to our knowledge about evolution, along the way showing us a scorpion:

a blue tongue skink:

a Burmese python:

A turkey vulture (which demonstrated immaculate sense of smell by sniffing out and attacking a baby chick which had been wrapped in newspaper and hidden on the side).
And a barn owl, which delighted the class by firstly doing a poo, then performed a dance!

It was then time for the pupils to make the most of the opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the animals.  You can see from the facial expressions that some children thoroughly enjoyed this while others were slightly less sure!

I think it is fair to say that the pupils found the animal’s visit to their class to be a truly memorable experience.
