Daily News
I thought I would start off this morning by sharing a video I received yesterday. It really cheered me up when I watched all the videos you sent in from the English task yesterday – it was good to see you again! I just had to share this video from Martha with you all – she worked with her family to produce this wonderful version of Verses 1 and 2 of The Highwayman. Well done Martha!
There has been so much to be pleased about over the last few days – keep on sending in your fantastic work. Just before we get on with today’s learning I also want to share this fantastic piece of Highwayman inspired descriptive writing from Sennen.
Our inaugural House Point Battle ends today at midday – a few more hours could change the leaderboard – the final results will be announced tomorrow morning.

Yesterday we expressed a decimal as a fraction. Today we do it the other way around.

English
Using your notes from yesterday (if you have not watched yesterday’s session, do so now) I would like you to write a full, detailed, written description of the scene as you stand between the gusty trees.
I really want you to bring the scene to life in your writing. Focus on using a full range of sentence openers, packing in the detail. When you move onto a different element, start a new paragraph. Try to include all the elements of descriptive writing you have in your toolbox!
I really want to see what you come up with. I am happy for you to type this, or for it to be handwritten and photographed. After writing, go back and make sure you edit it carefully. This activity is designed to take around an hour to complete, so do not rush it. I would love to share some of the best examples on here – see if you can get your work published!
Reading
I would like you to read for at least 30 minutes each day. You can get more ideas and suggestions of reading material from the Reading@Home section above.
Art
I thought we would do an art activity today which relates to our English work on the The Highwayman.
Choose a line from the first verse of the poem (a copy is above to remind you) and draw a picture to represent this. I would also like you to caption the picture with the line you have chosen
Use any media you have at home with you (I have seen some of you are lucky to have watercolours) but this could equally well be done in pencil.
Spend some time on this. Plan out what you would like to do first, then start to create your artwork. When doing the caption, try to be creative and artistic with your font – don’t just write it in your everyday handwriting.
As an idea of what I am talking about, I have mocked up this version with an image I got from the Internet – I thought it was a good example as it also demonstrated our perspective art work too!
Family Challenge
Another challenge for you today. This is similar to one we did in class. I wonder who will be able to solve this – Zoe, all eyes are looking at you!
